Hi, quilters, from Big Horn Quilts
Winners of the August drawing are Laura Wissmar and Terry Hume! They each get $50 gift certificates, and we pay the postage. Everyone be sure and sign up again for the September drawing here .
I'm losing Claire, who has been my customer service person and right hand for the past couple years. The local hospital offered her way more money than I can afford to pay her, and we wish her the best - she will be sorely missed.
To take her place, I've hired Julia Jones. Now we have two Cookies and two Julias - but since everyone calls me Julie, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Julia is from Arkansas, so you may detect a slight Southern accent when you talk to her. This is Julia!
Our 'farm' (Dave's hobby) is growing lots of pasture grass. When I get too many ideas about how we should do things out there, he gets his back up. Kind of like I would if he made a lot of suggestions about my quilting. So, he gave me a piece of ground for my garden, where I can do anything I want. So far all I've done is dig in a lot of horse and cow manure and remove rocks. Good exercise, and I love being out there, even when it is hot. I deeply dug an area about 6 x 10 feet, to maybe put in a coldframe, and I got this many rocks out of it!
My one patch wonder quilt has been on the Gammill for a week - I've been procrastinating, not sure how I want to quilt it. That's my project for today. The rocks will have to wait.
Newest stuff
We've received some great poppies, lots of batiks, and some goofy figs and garlic fabrics since I wrote last.
I'm going to have to go back and have one of my bionic knees redone - my one leg is getting bowed and the doctor says he needs to reset the lower half of the knee. Surgery is Aug 26. The wierd thing is it doesn't hurt at all, but the knee is getting kind of wobbley. So for a few days towards the end of August I won't be answering emails.
Wish me luck. I'd still have it done again in a heartbeat - being able to walk without pain is wonderful.
So, til next month - keep on sewing!
Julie
